2011 Topps Update Mike Trout Alert!!

(16) Retail Hanger Packs with Blue Parallels

(5) Mike Trout RC's
Were you waiting? As I had posted earlier in the week, I had a package due to arrive from www.dacardworld.com (Dave and Adams Card World) or as I have heard more than once mispronounced in the collecting world "Dahhcardworld."  The package I would have arriving at my door was the exclamation point to a whim of a purchase I had made five days prior.  I was browsing Ebay late Sunday night of last week, and happened to run across many auctions offering Mike Trout RC's, and they were going for rather hefty amounts.
It's awfully tough as a sports fan of any kind to be unaware of the magical season that is taking place in Anaheim, with the amount of coverage Trout has drawn deservedly so as a direct result of his play.  When I speak of  magical, I mean an MVP run by this young rookie.  His play has caused demand for his cards to skyrocket, the run for MVP doesn't hurt either.  Trout made his rise to the "bigs" rather quickly making his way from "A" ball from as late as early last year, to AAA, and ultimately landing in the Angels outfield late last season.
Mike Trout was a name that I heard often, due to the fact that he played for the Cedar Rapids Kernels, which happens to be 15 miles from my home.  His numbers were astounding, a man amongst boys if you will (while still being wet behind the ears himself), as he tore through the Midwest League.  Unfortunately, he was playing so well that I never had the chance to see him in person bearing a Kernels uniform before he was gone.  At the time of his rise, his cards still remained attainable at a good price (ie. picking up numbered parallels at around $1.00 apiece at local card shows).  I had in my hands at one point a prospect card of Trout numbered to /999, along with some base that were purchased very cheap.  Had I held onto them instead of selling them (self admitted stupid move), I could have today turned a $5 investment into a $75 dollar profit.  In the card world you win some and you lose some, but its what makes collecting fun.
When I hit Ebay late last week, I found myself needing to get my hands on more of his cards.  This time it would prove to be a bit more pricey.  I was wanting to break some product and also have the chance to land some Trout RC's.  I settled on a deal that I couldn't pass up.  "DA" was offering 2011 Topps Update hanger packs for $9.00 each, so I decided to pick up sixteen of them with the price being right parlayed with free shipping, a free gift (Jordan Tribute Set), and a $5 off via a Beckett code.
The break was a blast as I ended up with (5) Trout RC's, (6) Rizzo RC's, (3) Goldschmidt RC's, (32) Retail exclusive blue-bordered parallels, numerous diamond cognacs with vet SP's, diamond platinums, RC's, and an Alexi Ogando All Star Jersey Relic.  I found that the hangers were the absolute best way to grab multiple Trout RC's at a nice price. The MLB year may or may not end with Mike Trout adding an MVP trophy to the mantle, but regardless of what happens, Trout has already added some excitement to the collecting world. I hope you had as much enjoyment reading, as I did busting.  Check out the gallery of what I pulled below!!
