If you have read this particular blog in the past, it doesn't take long to realize that this collector enjoys the Hobby of card collecting at its core. The thrill of opening packs has stuck with me since my childhood, and I hope to pass that passion on to my boys. Recently I have found my oldest son asking, "Dad, why do you watch guys opening cards?" It is rather tough to explain to a 5 year old why dad watches packs opened on the computer, so I have invited him to watch along with me. The other day while watching he thought it would be cool to hear his name on video, and have a mailday of his very own. I searched several places that do video breaks, and threw out some emails to see if they would bust several packs for my son.
After corresponding with BlowoutCards, and Matt from their BlowoutTV Video Blog, I had found my little guy exactly what he wanted. I purchased 2 packs of the just released 2012 Panini Prestige Football, and asked Matt to break them on video (Video above). Matt was very accomodating and posted the video for us to watch. I knew my money was well spent when my son heard his name on video, and knew that the cards being opened would be arriving in the mail soon. This was enough, two happy collectors, and cards on the way, pleased to say the least.....until.....the day the cards arrived at the door..........
My son anxiously tore open the box, then tore open the envelope.....only to find another envelope prompting a "did they just send me packages?" The innocence was priceless. Now dad knows the nature of card protection and shipping, but in his eyes something was up, as I held in a chuckle I encouraged him to keep ripping. Eventually he got to the cards, and began to shuffle through them, then he stopped, observing something that caught his eye. As I peered closer, it was an Alshon Jeffrey Jersey card numbered out of 299 from 2012 Prestige. My guy thought it was so cool that they put a jersey inside a card, so we sleeved it and put in a toploader--He loved It!!!
We finished looking through the cards, took pictures, and found a safe place for them. A great starter pack for the little collector, but it meant much more to me. Matt at Blowoutcards had added some extras, and also threw in the Jersey card---not much in value, but a priceless card in terms of memories created.
Plain and simple Blowoutcards, and Matt at the Fantastic Store did not have to do this, but they did and in turn created an unforgettable moment in card collecting between father and son. Acts of kindness, and customer service like this in the hobby are examples of how collecting can, and will flourish in the future.
MATT @ the store & BLOWOUTCARDS, Thank You for your exemplary service and dedication to the hobby.
Thanks for reading & happy collecting.....GINTER IS COMING!!!!!!!
